The Frustration of Discontinued Makeup Products

When I find a makeup product that works, I stick with it. I’m not one to experiment. But, every now and then I get a curveball when the beauty product companies discontinue my favorite makeup. That’s what happened to me with Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation and Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc. So, now I am left looking for a substitute that has a similar texture, finish and color as the products that I loved.

How I Tested These Makeup Dupes

What I Want in a Makeup Substitute

I’ve been using the Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation for years because of its flawless coverage. It was my go-to for work events and nights out—now I’m on the hunt for something just as fabulous as this high-end, luxurious, full-coverage foundation.

For the Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc, I want something that gives me a similar, shimmery glow and highlighting on my cheeks. Again, if I can find something more affordable – but that performs similarly – I’ll take it.
